Creating A Food Safety Culture Executive Education will be offered May 22-25, 2018 on the beautiful MSU Campus.

The program includes two days of sessions facilitated by Frank Yiannas, Vice President of Food Safety & Health, Walmart, USA and Adjunct Professor in the Online Master of Science in Food Safety Program at MSU.The program also includes guest lectures by William "Bill" Marler, Managing Partner, Marler Clark LLP PS, and The Robert Leader Endowed Lecture with Guest Lecturer Patricia Griffin, Chief of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) epidemiology branch. 

The program will be conducted at the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development at Michigan State University. Evening activities include a welcome reception on Tuesday, May 22; dinner and a tour of the internationally celebrated Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum on Wednesday, May 23 and a dinner at the Breslin Center on Thursday, May 24.

Yiannas is the author of Food Safety Culture, Creating a Behavior-based Food Safety Management System, and Food Safety = Behavior (30 Proven Techniques to Enhance Employee Compliance). He is also Vice–Chair of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and past President of the International Association for Food Protection.

The alumni full session registration is a special rate made available for participants who are alumni of the Online Master of Science in Food Safety. The alumni full session registration includes all meals and overnight accommodations at Candlewood Suites (connected to the James B. Henry Center) from Tuesday evening through Friday morning:

III. Alumni - Connect

Cost: FREE to MSFS Alunmi, $25.00 per guest

The Alumni Connect event registration is for participants who are students, alumni, and friends of the Online Master of Science in Food Safety who only want to attend the Thursday night tailgate dinner and Friday morning lecture. No overnight hotel accommodations are included:

The for credit registration is for participants who are current students of the Online Master of Science in Food Safety or Lifelong Learners with MSU (Alumni included) and who wish to enroll in the full summer semester course VM 826 to receive graduate credit. The course tuition and fee includes all meals and overnight accommodations at Candlewood Suites (connected to the James B. Henry Center) from Tuesday evening through Friday morning. Semester-long students will study with Frank Yiannas through the entire summer semester. This course represents a 3-credit elective in the Online MS in Food Safety program. I am interested in enrolling in the semester long course with Frank Yiannas.  When can I register?

If you are a continuing student at MSU, summer enrollment will open in mid-March.  If you are not a current MSU student, open enrollment for Lifelong students will begin in late-March (see below for information about Lifelong education).

I am not a MSU student but I would like to take the full semester course for credit. Where do I register?

You must first apply to the MSU Lifelong education program: http://www.reg.msu.edu/ROInfo/EnrReg/LifeLongEducation.aspx.  Once you have been accepted, you will need to contact either Heather Ricks at ricksh@msu.edu or Bonnye Mason-Williams at masonbon@msu.edu with your PID number to request a course override (permission code).

Is this course going to be offered again?

This course, offered in Summer 2018, will hopefully be offered again but it is not guaranteed that future offerings will be under the same format (full semester) or that it will feature Frank Yiannas.  It may be a short course or a full semester and it may have a different featured instructor. So, if VM 826 is of interest to you as it has been created, don't miss the opportunity this summer!
