We are seeking an individual that has a desire to lead and manage our food safety and quality programs and help us to continue to grow and expand our food safety culture.
Job Responsibilities:
The Food Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of the organization’s food safety and quality systems and programs. This individual will oversee compliance with FDA and USDA regulations, manage the organization’s HACCP and Food Safety Plans, and lead the company’s efforts to maintain and advance our BRC third-party certification. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day execution, working closely with production and management teams to uphold our commitment to excellence.

- Direct Reports: Food Safety & Quality Tech and Food Safety & Quality Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of HACCP and FSMA-compliant Food Safety Plans.
- Manage and continuously improve the company’s BRC certification, including preparation, documentation, and audit execution.
- Serve as the primary contact for all third-party, customer, USDA, and FDA inspections or audits.
- Monitor and verify daily food safety and quality activities to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SSOPs, GMPs, and prerequisite programs.
- Conduct internal audits, track corrective and preventive actions, and verify timely closure of all findings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams to resolve quality or safety issues.
- Lead and deliver employee training programs on food safety, hygiene, and quality best practices.
- Maintain and update all BRC, USDA, and FDA documentation as required.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in product quality, food safety, and operational performance.
- Serve as a leader and mentor to the organization’s Quality Technician, fostering professional growth and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (major in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field preferred, but not required).
- HACCP certification and PCQI certification and strong working knowledge of FSMA and GFSI standards.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, including leadership in food safety and quality systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing BRC or SQF certification programs and leading successful third-party audits.
- Working knowledge of both FDA and USDA regulatory environments.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working directly with FDA and USDA inspectors and managing and leading regulatory audits.
- Experience successfully responding to and communicating with FDA and USDA regulatory staff.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Humble and trustworthy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with refrigerated or ready-to-eat food production.
- Proven leadership in GFSI audit preparation and execution.
- Experience working in family-owned or mid-sized food companies, balancing flexibility with professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Travel Requirements:
- This role does not include any travel.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
