On May 5th, graduating students of the Online MS in Food Safety program came to the beautiful MSU campus to walk in the Advanced Degree commencement ceremony at the Jack Breslin Student Event Center.  Among those who walked were students graduating in Fall 2016, Spring 2017 and Summer 2017.  A lunch reception was held at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center before the ceremonies began, where approximately 130 people came together to celebrate this tremendous achievement.  Attending the reception were MS in Food Safety students, with families and friends, MSFS staff and several members of the MSFS faculty.  

"It was exciting to share this day with so many of our students and their loved ones," said Dr. Melinda Wilkins, MS in Food Safety program director.  "This was the largest group of Food Safety students ever to attend commencement on the MSU campus!  As an online program, this is often the first time we get to meet our students, so it means a lot to the staff that so many came this year!"

Following refreshments, Dr. Wilkins addressed the room, reading off the names of those graduating.  Attending students were given a gift, and posed to have their photo taken with Dr. Wilkins.  After all graduates were recognized, the students gathered to don their regalia and move outdoors for group photos.  Students and their families were then able to walk to the Jack Breslin Center where Commencement exercises began at 3:30.  It was a day of joy and celebration, and we're delighted that so many were able to join us on this special occasion.
